We’ve got exciting news! Scheherazade Jewelers is expanding. The new store space will be located in the east end of Galleria’s expansion, adjacent to the Westin Hotel. Scheherazade Jewelers will be open for business in its current location until the new store opens in June 2018.
Celebrating 43 Years in Galleria
When Southdale opened in 1956, it was the country’s first enclosed shopping center. In 1974, developers of Galleria wanted to create an enclosed shopping center of their own, with exclusive upscale shopping offerings and experiences. With Gabbert’s Furniture Store as its anchor, that same year construction began to add additional retail spaces.
Scheherazade was one of the first businesses to open as part of the luxury lifestyle shopping center’s early expansion. As one of the original tenants, Scheherazade’s staying power has allowed the local destination brand to be part of another historic expansion when the Westin Hotel became an extension of Galleria.
George Sawyer Local Artist
Scheherazade is a microcosm of Galleria itself, showcasing jewelry from leading national and international brands as well as local talent. Internationally known, Minneapolis-based jewelry designer George Sawyer is a leading metallurgical genius.
Early in his jewelry-designing career, he adopted the ancient Japanese art of Mokume-gane, a metalworking procedure of mixed-metals that produces distinctive layered patterns. Over the decades, George continues to produce handcrafted, one-of-a-kind works of wearable art for Galleria customers thanks to an exclusive relationship with Scheherazade.
Best Dressed Wrist
Since its store opening in 1974, Scheherazade continues to earn its reputation as a local destination brand known for its leading jewelry fashions, in designs destined to be enjoyed by generations of customers. Modern classics, however, take many forms.
Given today’s cutting-edge jewelry making technology, Scheherazade is a proud partner of third-generation Italian Roberto Demeglio. The engineer turned jewelry designer is best known for his luxurious ceramic tile and gold bracelets.
Best dressed wrists aren’t just about statement-making bracelets and exquisitely designed rings. Scheherazade is an authorized dealer of Hamilton watches, the timepiece brand that combines American heritage with Swiss precision.
Your Fine Estate Jewelry Source
Scheherazade is known for its modern classics, but timeless classics as well. For nearly a decade, the estate jewelry offerings have gone from a small display case of pre-owned jewelry to several cases of fine estate jewelry. Coupled with estate jewelry events that showcase an extensive range of jewelry dating as far back the Victorian Era, Scheherazade has established itself as one of Minnesota’s premier retailer of fine estate jewelry and period pieces.
Modern Classics by Michael Bondanza
Platinum is often called a “metal fit for a king.” If there were ever a jewelry designer worthy of a royal title for jewelry designing using this majestic metal, it would be Michael Bondanza. The designer is best known for combining platinum and gold in his bracelet and cuff designs. But Michael’s regal reputation for platinum is earned with his many handcrafted, one-of-a-kind bridal jewelry collections, the epitome of modern classics.
