For more than three decades, the name BELLARRI has been synonymous with award-winning jewelry that blends exotic colored stones in designs that epitomize timeless elegance. Scheherazade Jeweler’s customers are invited to see collections from the internationally acclaimed jewelry designer during a two-day trunk show event on Friday, January 23, and Saturday, January 24 at the Galleria-based jewelry store.
As an authorized retail partner Scheherazade Jeweler carries its own inventory of BELLARRI jewelry. But during the two-day trunk show event, customers can see expanded collections, larger selections and special pieces created by BELLARRI.
“Life is Beautiful,” a simple yet declarative tagline for colored stone jewelry created by Bellarri Adleman. No one knows beauty better than the former model turned jewelry designer who started her company in 1977. Bellarri Adleman worked as a model and was involved in the fashion business, work that took her to Toronto and Dallas. Then she tried her hand at designing private label jewelry for high-end department stores. After this successful venture she decided to start her own brand of jewelry.
Based in Scottsdale, AZ, the 38-year-old company got its start in dealing with loose colored gemstones. Known for dealing in finer goods, BELLARRI made the natural progression to producing finished jewelry. By pushing the envelope, the designer created bold pieces that quickly garnered attention and awards from the gem and jewelry industry and eventually a loyal following from BELLARRI enthusiasts around the world. In 2008, BELLARRI earned the coveted and prestigious Town & Country Couture Design Award.
Like many of the jewelry stores that sell her colored stone-set jewelry, BELLARRI is truly a family business. Bellarri Adleman works alongside her husband as well as their son and daughter. She makes many personal appearances each year and has become a fixture at red carpet events where today’s leading celebrities wear jewelry that is designed with a passion for color.
BELLARRI jewelry is set mainly with amethyst, citrine, peridot, blue topaz, and garnets. No other collection in the designer’s repertoire represents these gemstones better than the Mosaic Collection. From women’s rings and earrings to men’s cufflinks, the Mosaic Collection’s signature look is a tic-tac-toe like nine-square formation of square-cut colored gemstones divided by diamond-set cross bars.
Drop earrings never go out of style, which is why the Gigi Collection and the Carmen Collection have been so hugely successful for BELLARRI. The distinctly feminine yet dramatic flair of drop style earrings and pendants from these collections has inspired complementary ring and bracelet designs that are in keeping with the spirit of the lines but possess unique qualities that make for individual statement making pieces.
White in BELLARRI jewelry doesn’t always come from diamonds, as evidenced by the designer’s Anastasia Collection. At the heart of these beautifully bold pieces of jewelry is white onyx. The contrasting qualities of white onyx set with the rich deep purple hues of amethyst give the Anastasia Collection its rich look. White onyx also looks good on its own in the Baroness Collection, which mainly features checkerboard facetted pieces of white onyx framed in 18-karat rose gold set with white round brilliant diamonds. And, as if named after Madame B herself, the Mademoiselle Collection features mainly floral-inspired designs using white onyx.
Newer jewelry collections by BELLARRI include the Tuscany Collection, jewelry set with colored stones (namely amethyst, citrine, green quarts and blue topaz) cut in six-sided shapes with large, angular facets that demonstrate near bottomless color in every gemstone. The award-winning Circle of Love Collection has signature round designs (as the name implies) with invisible-set gemstones in channels. The Ring Collection is comprised of statement-making dimensions featuring large center-set colored gemstones (including smoky quartz) topped by two rows of rose gold set with diamonds.
The recent Contessa Collection (launched in 2013), also features invisibly-set colored stones. But the common thread that binds many of BELLARRI ‘s jewelry collections is rose gold. BELLARRI jewelry is available in white and yellow gold – as well as silver – but new collections are mainly crafted in rose gold. The warmth of rose gold continues to captivate consumers across America and the globe.
The BELLARRI Lady
BELLARRI makes colored stone jewelry set in silver, but the core of the designer’s many collections are made in 18-karat gold. Prices for BELLARRI gold jewelry start at around $2,000. Bellarri Adleman knows beauty, jewelry and the women that wear her jewelry.
“My customer is an independent thinking self-purchaser who understands we design for her lifestyle. She’s not necessarily waiting for anyone to buy for her,” she said in a June 2013 interview with Elite Traveler.
Regarding her own jewelry designs, Bellarri Adleman says: “A true artist should capture the eyes, the soul and the heart with every creation.” And, of course she is known for her famous quote: “My designs are my passion, my collectors are my treasures.”
Become a treasure hunter of BELLARRI jewelry during Scheherazade Jeweler’s two-day trunk show event, Friday, January 23 and Saturday, January 24 and see expanded collections, larger selections and special pieces created by BELLARRI.
